Legal Question in Criminal Law in New York

check forgery

in september 2000 I forged my then husbands name on a few stock checks to pay off a gambling problem I had at the time. Since around 2004 since we got a divorce he has been blackmailing me into paying him $50.00 a week threatening to have me arrested. I cannot do this any longer I have heart problems and large medical bills to pay and the stress is also affecting me tremendously. Can he still do this?

Re: check forgery

You are well beyond the limitation period for such a crime to be prosecuted. The State or the police agency should not be interested in pursuing it.
