Legal Question in Criminal Law in New York

A couple of buddies and i were in the park smoking cigarettes in the bushy area. We are 17, 17, and 18 (the cigarettes were the 18 yr olds). I know that cigarettes are bad for, no need to comment that. We got out of the bushy area and the cops pulled us over. They asked what we were doing and we said we were smoking cigarettes (the truth). They still took our info (name, address) and now i'm worried. Are they going to call our parents/send a mail. ONe of my friends asked the cops and he said no, but i dont believe him to be honest. Thank you for your responses ahead of time. I live in NY if that info is needed.

Nyc keeps stats on all persons stopped that is probably why they wanted your info. You may have heard about the media attn regarding the stop and frisk program. You are probably nothing more than a statistic
