diversion

i have been enrolled in diversion programme in overland park municipal court, i am going through a back ground check for my occupation will that appear in the background check, if it appears what it will appear and will that affect my employment opportunity? i they ask what answer should i give? the diversion programme is for shoplifting value less than 70$.

We will assume you will sucessfully complete the diversion program and the charge will be dismissed. The fact that you were charged will likely show up during a background check. After the case is dismissed your record will also reflect that. An honest answer is that you were charged but not convicted. If they simply ask if you have been convicted of a crime, you can honestly answer "no". If ask is you have been charged, the honest answer is "yes".
