Legal Question in Criminal Law in New York

Exfriend, fight broke out, I punched him and now have summons. Please help!

EXFriend came over 'trying to make good' but instead sat in my driveway telling me how i'm a terrible brother and kept verbally poking me, eventually I cracked and punched him in the face. He then called the police and now I will have a summons. What to do now? He is threatening me now and wants me to admit at the summons that I did it and will not press charges then, but if I don't admit it, he will bring a witness and press charges and take it further. What do I Do???

In asmuch as you have not been arrested nor has a summons been issued there is really not much to advise. Have a good competent criminal defense attorney ready if and when the need arises. Do not give any statements to any law enforcement official without consulting your attorney first. Do not submit to a line-up either. Please call my office for a free phone consultation to get more assistance.

YOU NEED A LAWYER. You can be charged with Assault in the 3d degree which is a class A misd. and carries with it a year in jail and/or a $1000 fine. DO NOT REPLY TO THE SUMMONS WITHOUT CONSULTING A GOOD CRIMINAL DEFENSE ATTORNEY.

You can't just ask that type of question here. A good answer will require you to go over the facts and the relationships as well as your ultimate goals.

Call a lawyer. Right Away!
