fraud
what is the legal situation regarding receiving things by fraud in New York and/or the united states
Re: fraud
This question has a lot of twists and turns and caveats. The general rule is that the person committing the fraud may not retain his/her gains. In addition, he/she cannot pass good title (the original owner stays the owner). But, in the absence of an original owner, the courts will not move possession from one person to another. I have answered from a civil law perspective, not a criminal law. Again, I need more information to be more spcific.
