Were the charges Juvi (J.O.) or Y.O. (Youthful Offender)? Either way the case is not a criminal conviction. A Juvi is not held in prison, he is put into a juvinile detention center.

A Y.O. can be put into a county lock-up or jail but not a state penitentary.
