Re: how long

If I get the question correctly; there was a warrant issued for arrest and the arrest was made. When the arrest was made, the defendant had a quantity of ecstasy in his/her possession.

The defendant will be charged with the original crime, possibly for not making his/her trial date, and for possession with intent to distribute.

The DA was going to offer a 'deal' or plea-bargain for the first crime. The DA may choose to offer the top count on the original crime in exchange for a dismissal of the possession with intent. That may be an attractive plea bargain offer.

Of course, if you are charged and found guilty of possession with intent to distribute, then the 'Rockefeller Laws' with the mandatory sentencing provisions will be triggered. That is where the issue of parole comes into play. You want to avoid taking a plea on possession with intent for that reason.

Clearly, you need an effective attorney to represent your interest in this case. I recommend you commit yourself 100% to getting the best attorney available.

You are welcome to a consultation for no fee. Good luck.
