It sounds like you received a summons for possession of a knife. It is always best to retain an attorney to deal with a case if you can afford it because the lawyer will see if you have a defense and if not, make sure you don't get taken advantage of on a plea. What you are charge with carries up to a $300 fine and/or 15 days in jail (which is not likely to happen). Having a private lawyer also gets you out of court faster. I am a former prosecutor and now handle criminal defense so fee free to contact me if you wish to retain counsel.

You received a "c" summons which potentially carries a jail term. Although this is not likely ,a competent criminal defense attorney will evaluate the charges, your defenses and obtain a favorable result. I handle matters such as yours on a daily basis, please contact my office @ 718-834-0087 for a free phone consultation.

Go yourself first and if offered an ACD. take it. If not ask for time to get a lawyer.
