Legal Question in Criminal Law in New York

punishment for criminal mischief

My 18 yr. old daughter has been arrested on 4 counts of criminal mischief. What is the probable sentence for this? She has never been in trouble before and is scared to death. She was with 5 other teens and none of them got arrested or ticketed. What can I tell her?

Re: punishment for criminal mischief

It is difficult to predict a possible sentence without knowing more about the offense, e.g. what type of property was destroyed, tampered with or vandalized? What is the value of the property? Your daughter's age and her lack of criminal history will work in her favor. Feel free to call and discuss in more detail.

More details are necessary before offering an opinion as to the possibilities regarding your daughter's cases. It seems to me that this case will be resolved via plea bargain. If you contact my office I will be happy to discuss this situation with you.
