Legal Question in Criminal Law in New York

Summons for failure to comply with sign

Me and my friends recieved summons for being in Alley Pond park after it closed. The police officer said that there was a sign saying that the park was closed after dusk. We were under the impression that the park closed at 1:00 am, like every other park we had been to. We didn't see the sign that the police officer was referring to when we entered the park. My question is this: what effect does the summons have on my criminal record, if I plead guilty and pay the fine. Would I have to list this summons in on job applications if the application asks not to list any violations less than a misdemeanor?

Re: Summons for failure to comply with sign

Unfortunatly I believe you must personally appear to answer this summons, that being said this summons does not constitute a criminal offense ,it is a violation and generally applications do not require disclosure of violations. Therefore a plea of guilty will only really affect you financially.
