Legal Question in Criminal Law in New York

Traffic Summons

I am an over the road driver and was in Manhattan, NY on Canal Street. Trying to reach the Holland Tunnel which I was told to do by the company I delivered to. I was stopped 2 blocks from the tunnel by an officer who issued me 3 tickets. (AFTER an officer at the beginning of the street had waved me through) 1.Exceeds width-trailer(102'') 2.overlenght comb veh/city(68'4'') and 3.overlenght comb veh/state. NOW, I have found information stating that Canal street is a TRUCK ROUTE. AND that you can be on ANY street in NYC as long as you are one mile from the exit. There is NO telephone number for me to call. I finally got a hold of the summons department, because this is a MUST APPEAR and I live in IL, and they told me that they have no idea what the laws are or the fines...the judge will decided that the day of my appearance! They also told me that if the ticket was in trucking company's name then the company had to hire a lawyer to send to represent the company and tickets. What is going on here! What are the specific laws for TRUCK ROUTES in NYC??? Are these tickets even valid? To top it off the officer tried to put me out of service because of log violation which he was WRONG and didn't know the law...I had to argue with him.

Re: Traffic Summons

I represent many such violations. In N.Y.C.an individual may if the ticket is issued in one's name appear and plead without an attorney,if however the ticket is issued to a corporation ,then an attorney is required. That being said an out of towner may hire an attorney to represent him with proper authorization ,his personal appearance may be waived.I have done so on many occasions. This usually ends with some sort of plea bargain with a fine and time to pay that fine. You may call my office @718-834-0087 and I believe I can help resolve the problem.
