Legal Question in Criminal Law in New York

unsure

i have this friend that just got arrested for criminal poss. 3rd degree with his girl friend they both got charged for the same thing but she got a $10,000 bail and he got no bail. He called me and said that he has no bail because he had warrants that say he had rape and robbery charges but he has been stopped before and has been to the police station not because of him self but to bail out another friend, he says that someone used his name and the birth date that this person gave is an ex friend of his that is doing time for rape and robbery. My friend has never been in any trouble before and if i'm not mistaking he got into some minor trouble over 15 years ago. Ipractically raised t6his friend of mine and he did not without a doudt commit any rape or robbery as far as cp 3rd i'm not sure

Re: unsure

If someone stole your friend's identity, he should have his lawyer request that the DA compare his fingerprints from his arrest with the fingerprints associated with the warrants. In fact, the lawyer should ask the Judge to order the DA to do it on an expedited basis. That will clear things up if someone used his name.
