Legal Question in Criminal Law in New York

Web Cam ''Exposure''

A colleague of mine answered an online ad on Craigslist. The ad was supposedly posted by a 43 year old woman who wanted no strings attached sex. My colleague replied and the two started chatting online via Yahoo Instant Messenger. It should be noted that my colleague is 30 years old.

The way he describes it - the woman was very sexually forward while chatting. She asked him to turn on his webcam. She proceeded to ask that he disrobe and expose his genitals. He did so and the woman logged off and that was that. He is now super paranoid that he might have done something wrong or, even worse, be caught up in an elaborate police sting. I told him that as long as it's between consenting adults, no worries. Is this really the case? I just want to make sure I gave him the right advice.

Re: Web Cam ''Exposure''

Exposing himself online can certainly expose him to endless humiliation and embarrassment, but in any event, there's little he can do about it. In the future, he should probably refrain from such behavior, as well as understand that the "woman" in question was, in all probability, a man.
