Have you found an attorney already or is $3,500 a quote of an INITIAL RETAINER?

Where are you in New York (NYC, Long Island, Westchester, Upstate)?

Is he going to admit to the adultery or are you going to have to hire private investigators, conduct depositions, pay witness fees, subpoena several records.

What is the experience level of the attorney and are there paralegals and others who will be on your file. I hope you are just looking for an attorney and are not questioning prices and rates in the middle or at the end of your case.

If you haven't already hired an attorney and are concerned about costs, shop around. You may believe it's a simple divorce, but it may not be after all. Regardless, consider retaining a divorce attorney who is a solo or works for a small firm that may keep the costs down.

If you continue to receive the quote of $3,500, you can ALMOST be sure the price is not too high for your case. Just remember, if someone is accused of adultery, you can be certain he will fight the allegations. As a result, the attorney will be forced to put more time on your file. Also make sure, the $3,500 is the expected full cost for your case. $3,500 for an adultery case may just be your initial retainer quote. This means if the retainer runs out before the case is over you'll be required to pay more money.
