Legal Question in Discrimination Law in New York

I was recently verbally harassed by two tellers at the port authority in new york city. Not only was it verbal harassment, I also felt like I was being discriminated against because I was a woman. I felt that the incident which occurred would never have gotten to the level that it did if I were a man and walked away very belittled and shocked by the encounter. I didn't give these employees a reason to speak to me in such a manner. I was not rude I called the companies customer service hotline immediately following the incident, but was left on hold for quite some time. Would I have a case against this particular company for harassment and discrimination?

Discr cases are highly difficult to win (thats the law-remember-election season is here), which is why few attorneys will take them at all, at least not without a high retainer and a warning, and often a split-fee retainer. Proof is also a huge issue.

Unfortunately, there are so many horrible things that go on and as a woman who lived and worked in NYC many years, I know how you feel but there is often no legal solution to so many wrongs.
