Teacher slapping student
What is the protocol for what happens to a teacher that has been proven to have slapped a student in the arm, during a gym class?
Re: Teacher slapping student
Assuming that there is no reasonable explanation for the slap, accident, self-defense, etc., and that the teacher is tenured, the next step is up to the school administration and the school board.
The teacher may be removed from contact with students and charges preferred pusuant to Section 3020A of the Education Law. The charges can possibly result in dismissal after trial or a period of suspension or a reprimand.
Without further details of the particular case, only a very general response is possible.
