If my husband has to go into a nursing home, can they take our life annuity retirement fund besides his social security check?

You should really get to an attorney that does Medicaid planning. This is an enormous cost that could possibly be saved without bankrupting you. You would be very surprised what can be done BUT the sooner the better. There is also grumbling by lawmakers about the spousal refusal right being terminated...we have to work with that possibility...I do this in Commack, we are not far from the Haupp Medicaid office, there are other lawyers that do it I work with that are wonderful...
