we live in new york and have a 86 year old mother living with a son who travels a lot. who is responsible if something happens to her when she is along

I'm not sure I know what you mean about "who is responsible?" Responsible for what? Hopefully you guys have some system in place to check up on mom on regularly. But I'm not certain I understand what you mean by "who is responsible?"
