Can we sell a home with a Medicaid Lien against it?
Mom unable to live alone because of medical problems. Living in senior apartment in Chemung County, New York subsidised by Medicaid. Home has a value of about $40,000 and Medicaid lien is about $50,000 and will be vacant soon.
Since she can not return to home, can we sell it or does it get turned over to Medicaid directly. How do we proceed?

Based upon the sparse information supplied,
it would appear that your analysis is
correct. Unless there is a surviving
spouse remaining in the home, with no
return likely to the home, a sale with
the proceeds to go to the DSS seems likely
You may contact your worker directly to
confirm
