Legal Question in Entertainment Law in New York

Artist Agreement for a Minor

I have started a music label and have a standard artist agreement that I use for new music artist that I sign/plan to sign to my label. I am interested in signing a 16 year old artist to sing for me. I understand his parent or legal guardian would need to provide written consent. Would I be able to use a traditional agreement and request the parent's signature along with his on the form, or are there additional considerations with him being a minor? If so, what would they be?

Re: Artist Agreement for a Minor

There are additional considerations. You must read NY Cultural Affairs Law 35.03. The law and information you need is too large to provide in this setting.

Mike.
