Legal Question in Entertainment Law in New York

use of lyrics in an educational series

i have written lyrics for theme song to an educational DVD series.

it is a start-up company/friend so no payment or agreement on

payment. have been asked to write a second song, perhaps lyrics

and music, but i don't want to proceed without legal agreement on

payment and/or future payments-royalties. can't seem to find the

appropriate standard form in a web search.

thank you very much for any feedback.

A good agreement is necessary to avoid future conflicts and loss of friendship. To effectuate this there must be a clear understanding of the rights and resposibilities of the contracting parties, therefore it is a good idea to have each represented by separate counsel, thereby avoiding all potential present and future conflicts. You may contact my office to arrange a consultation.
