Legal Question in Entertainment Law in New York

I am a model and actress based in New York and I have just started using a stage name where only my first name is different from my legal name (like a nickname). I would like to know what is the best way to go about that matter, considering the fact that I am not planning to change my legal name. Is it better to get a DBA or can I add an AKA to my bank accounts and also with the IRS, SS and how do I proceed about that? Are there any specific documents I need to get to make that name official and legal?

Ideally I would prefer not to have to start a separate business name and also be able to use it across the US and if possible internationally as well. Your advice is greatly appreciated!

Thank you for your time.

There is no legal requirement that you register a nickname or stage name.

Mr. Browde is correct, there is no legal requirement, however you may wish to protect that name and acquire the full rights to it by filing a trademark. We have substantial experience handling these matters, however, we would need some more information before making a complete and proper determination.
