Legal Question in Entertainment Law in New York

We have a Pony ride and Petting Zoo Company. We are hired by individuals for parties and for fund raising and as an attraction for other events. We want to be able to have the party individual sign something to not allow any one to sue us while attending the event. Also something to protect us at the other events.

This is really outside the scope of this service in my view. One could lay out bullet points for the document you're seeking but there are various issues to be considered, For example, in some cases, entering into a release that may be against public policy won't be recogized by courts. You may not be able to protect yourself from claims brought by invitees or attanedees at the event unless the hiring party agrees to provide some sort of notice. You should consider retaining an attorney to help you draft the document and answer your questions. It shouldn't be an expensive effort and, like oats and grooming the animals, is a reasonable cost of doing business. You should also carry liability and, possibly, other insurance to protect yourself in the event a claim is brought. Where children are involved, the law is particularly a concern.

Agreed. This is a relatively simple document for an attorney to draft for you. The small cost to have it created will certainly save you tens of thousands of dollars in legal fees down the road.
