You need to have the agreement reviewed by an IP / entertainment lawyer that will have an eye towards your interests and make sure you are protected to the greatest extent. Of course, with these type of agreements the production companies may not be very flexible or amenable to changes, but you have to know what you are signing.

Mr. Natoli is absolutely right. There are so many issues involved that you truly need an attorney to review the contract and let you know what rights you will be giving up and what you will actually be getting. And this is something that only an experienced attorney will be able to figure out.

I add two things. First, I suggest that you talk with a few different attorneys. You need to feel comfortable with whomever you decide to retain. Second, it is always better to take no deal rather than a bad deal. So have it in your mind that this might be something which is best you walk away from.
