Legal Question in Entertainment Law in New York

Stage Name

I am thinking of using a phonetic spelling of my name for a stage name(which is the same name as our photography co.) what are the legal things i need to think about in doing so, also how do i deal with checking accounts since i would be paid under that stage name? and is there any ramifications or necessary actions that must be taken with social security, etc? is there anything I am not thinking about?

thank you for you time.

Re: Stage Name

You can use any name you like as long as it is not for a fraudulent purpose. However there may be union issues if you have the same name of some other performer in a union (if you are, or become a member).

Should you like to discuss this or any other legal matter you can e-mail me for more information about low cost face-to-face, on-line or a telephone consultation with a lawyer in our office.

Re: Stage Name

You're not thinking about hiring an attorney. Your questions are not difficult ones but more information is necessry to satisfactorally respond. Most of the things you need to do can be done by yourself but you need a lawyer to guide you.
