Legal Question in Family Law in New York

I'm 15 turning 16 in december. I cannot stand living at home anymore. My father is verbally abusive to me and my mother, to my sisters as well but not as much or as mean. He swears at me and calls me horrible names. I know their is nothing i can do in my town because my two older sisters both tried turning him in for abuse in the past but he's friends with all the local police because he's a cop too. I just dont know what to do or where to turn and i'm at my wits end! Please Help!

The most you can do is contact the New York State Department of Child Protective Services. The problem is that any complaint will most likely be referred back to the agency from your county. Your father will most likely have connections that will contact him. You need to try to get the person on the toll free line to understand that you think your father gets warnings of any report against him. The number is 1-800-342-3720. Other than that, call the New York State Police.

I wish you well. If I can be of further assistance my number is 516-746-4747 but understand my office is on Long Island and I can not help you up there.
