In the state of New York at what age can a child be left alone in the home?

There is no statutory age in New York. Much depends on the maturity of the child and the circumstances of leaving them. The Red Cross teaches baby sitting courses to 12 year olds but no legal age exists in law.

That is a question that varies depending upon the circumstances of each case. A twelve year can babysit. An eleven year old might be able to if it is for a short period of time and there is adult supervision/assistance available. How old is the child in question??
