It all depends. Oftentimes, that's a separate provision in the child support order regarding insurance and uninsured medical bills. If nothing is said in the child support order about medical bills, the support can be used toward his/her medical bills.

The use of child support is up to the custodial parent. They have total and complete discretion on how that money is to be used. Medical Bills are usually a separate provision in any support order from the court. If there is no court support order or a provision from a divorce then it is up to the parties to come to a decision. Be aware, if the custodial parent takes this to court, the support magistrate is obligated by law to impose medical expenses as an add-on for a support obligation that is over an above the child support calculations.
