Legal Question in Family Law in New York

I have a court case regarding back child support that I owe ( approx 4 months) and I have filed papers for a reduction, will it make a difference in court if I pay the back before the court date?

It can't hurt.

Arrears are not affected by a petition for a reduction going forward. However, depending upon how the argument is made, the existence of arrears can either help indicate that the amount being required is too high, or, in the alternative, the payment of the arrears can be used to indicate that you have the ability to pay.

This is why having a Family Attorney involved can help improve your chances of success in the petition.
