Divorce Law in NY

My wife abandoned me over five years ago and I don't have any way to find her. I hired an attorney and paid him a good retainer but now he is asking for a lot more money in order to continue. I can't afford to pay any more as I am caring for my 77 year old mother who is very ill. How can I finally put this all behind me?

In your situation, the costs involved are considerably higher due to the extra procedures required (i.e. affidavits, motion, publication, etc.). Your lawyer should have explained this to you when you started. You are always free to change attorneys.
