Legal Question in Family Law in New York

I retained a lawyer in my city and paid him close to 6,000 but have never recieved any paperwork other than letters he sent to my husbands lawyer. I dont even know if I am legally seperated and I first emt with him back in May 08. I have tried calling him repeatly and he never returns my calls. I am not living in my home anymore, I am with my parents and I have my 4 yr old son with me there majority of the time. The house is not in my name but I am told I am entitled to half. I have not received child support or even know idf the paperwork has been filed. I am broke and have no more money to pay daycare like I have been at $200 a week. I need help and dont know where to turn. Is there a way domeone can help me?
