emancipation

If my son joins the Air Force Reserves at the age of 19 is he emancipated? Would I still have to pay child support?

Re: emancipation

It really depends on what the divorce agreement says. Just by the act of joining the Air Force doesn't automatically emancipate a person, but generally, unless otherwise specified (such as college tuition) child support requirements end when a child turns 18.

Should you like to discuss this or any other legal matter, you can call my office to schedule an appointment for a consultation or in the alternative, I can be reached for on-phone low-cost legal consultation at 1-800-275-5336 x0233699.

Re: emancipation

Generally, enrollment in the military is an emancipation event.
