Legal Question in Family Law in New York

Ex-Wife

I share custody of 2 children with my ex wife. I have no proof, but I suspect her of taking drugs, possibly cocaine or meth. Can I do anything about this. I'm afraid she would do this with the children around. Thanks.

Re: Ex-Wife

I read Ms. Wooten and Mr. Barics answers. There is one other option.

If you have reasonable grounds to believe that your wife is taking drugs, you can contact the Department of Social Services and ask that it looks into the problem.

Re: Ex-Wife

You can file for custody.

Re: Ex-Wife

You can seek an order restricting your ex wife's contact with your children. The burden of proof is on you to show the children are in danger. However, upon sufficent initial proof, the court can order drug testing.
