Legal Question in Family Law in New York

My ex-wife's Aunt passed away while we were still married. It later came out that my ex had inherited around $50,000.00. Since we were married at the time, shouldn't I have been entitled to some of the money?

No. Inheritances are not marital property in New York.

Unless the $50,000 was commingled with marital funds it is considered your ex-husband's separate property.
