Legal Question in Family Law in New York

Grounds for Divorce in New York

My ex husband and I are getting a divorce and the grounds are ''Cruel and Inhumane Treatment''. I am the plaintiff and he is the defendant. He is concerned that the grounds would affect his ability to apply for a Federal Firearm License in the future. Will this have any effect on that in New York or the United States?

It could though it is not likely. To be safe: either make sure the file is sealed; or agree to a divorce on grounds of constructive abandonment (assuming the facts are available.)

He should seek the advice of counsel to make sure the divorce goes through easily and without damaging either one of you.

Good Luck.
