Legal Question in Family Law in New York

My husband and I are going to be getting a divorce. Since our separation he has moved out of the country. I was wondering how this is going to affect our divorce proceedings as far as being able to serve him with the papers and such. It will be an uncontested divorce and there are no children, properties or money issues involved.

Since it is an uncontested divorce there should be no issue concerning service of the papers. When the papers are prepared the husband would have to sign before the United States Consulate and return. You would then file the papers with the Court.

If he is willing to sign, then you can send him papers by mail or even email. If not, then you will have to arrange for personal service. We handle cases like this all the time. Feel free to call or email for more info. http://NYCDivorceCenter.com
