Legal Question in Family Law in New York

Legal rights regarding my age/family unit/living situation

I am 17 years old and will be 18 on July 29,2003.I am living with my parents currently, but they are harrasing me.They try to tell me I'm crazy and the cause of all of their problems- when I know I am very much sane and able. They have recently called the cops because I would not have dinner with them (went to friends)because they were constantly harrassing me and trying to convince me that I am crazy. They told these cops that I am mentally unstable in order to get me back home, when there is no evidence or proof of me being mentally unstable.I am concerned because they threaten to continuously call the police if I leave the house for whatever reason.Either parent is at home at all times, as if to ''babysit'' me,when I am nearly an independant from them. They are constantly pestering me and telling me how bad I am when in fact, I just recently graduated, have a job, and have plans to go to Sage College of Albany in the fall.I am going through very much emotional turmoil due to them constantly trying to tell me I'm crazy and keeping me prisoner in my own house.I simply need to know what I can legally do.I'm trapped in my own home and am suffering from their mental abuse. Help!

Think of it this way, 28 more days and you don't have to worry about it. Of course you really want to be independent you will have to find a place to live, find a way to pay all of your living expenses including food, shelter, clothing, not to mention entertainment and pay your own way to school.

It's not easy to be a late teen, your kind of in both worlds; childhood and adulthood and at the same time in neither. Be patient and try to show some patience to your parents. This probably isn't an easy time for them either.
