Legal Question in Family Law in New York

The mother of my child has a boyfriend who over dosed trying to kill himself. Can I prevent him from watching my child without evidence of abuse?

I would say yes. You need to file a petition in court. A case can be made that a suicide attempt is a sign of serious mental illness which would make his watching your child problematic.
