My mother and older sister took my son without my permission and took him to court to try an get him taken away. Can they do that?

There has to be more to your story; however, assuming that what you wrote is the entire story, the answer is no. They must serve you with a petition and they must prove that it is in the child's best interest and they will have to allege and prove that you are an unfit parent.
