Re: nystate

A father of a 15 year old can petition the court for custody. The best interest of the child would be the standard the judge uses to detrmine to whom custody is granted.

His qualification for a appointed attorney is also made made a judge and depends on his financial situation.

We would need more information to help you determine what a possible outcome would be.

First: Yes, the father of a 15 year old can petition for custody of the child.

Second: Based upon the financial circumstances of the father, the court can appoint a legal aid attorney or an attorney off of the 18b list. That is up to the judge.
