I would like to know if an engagement is broken off by the man do I get my engagement ring back from the woman and is there case law supporting that decision?

Generally, yes. There is plenty of case law supporting it. However sometimes there are extenuating circumstances that would counter the general principle.

An engagement ring is a gift made in contemplation of marriage. If the marriage does not take place, the ring must be returned.
