Legal Question in Civil Litigation in New York

does a food stamp case worker have the right to ask for a monetary amount being given to me by a sister,who is trying to help me save my house.case worker has suspended my bennefits because sister doesn't feel they have the right to know.

can i fight this and win.dodn't want to starve.thanks!

oh,i forgot to say that i am fully disabled according to my orthopedist,for over two years now. waiting for surgery.

Generally, yes. Information concerning income or resources YOU regularly receive, is information that is a part of YOUR budget, and is required to be disclosed, by YOU, by your caseworker. It is then verified in writing, by the third party (your sister) making the contribution.

The representation does not obligate a continuation of the "voluntary" contributions against the will of the third party, provided the third party is not otherwise obligated to the applicant. Which means, third party can demonstrate that the resource/s is his or her own, through gainful employment; and not resources acquired from the applicant. Good luck,
