Legal Question in Civil Litigation in New York

Money not being refunded for services not rendered

I paid a technical school for three classes. After two of the classes the school locked the doors with no explanation. The organization refuses to refund the money for the third class (5,000.). What course of action do I have, considering that they have not filed bankruptcy.

Thanks for your time,--name removed--

Re: Money not being refunded for services not rendered

You can sue, but it cannot be in small claims

court due to the amount and you will need an

attorney

You may think about the Attorney Generals

Office relative to consumer complaints, but

this is probably a dead end

I received your post on 6-28-2001.

Sue them for breach of contract in the county in which they did business. Many courts have a pro se part to permit you to do this without an attorney.

Good Luck
