Legal Question in Civil Litigation in New York

Moving co.

6 months ago I moved & the movers ruined my furniture and with numerous calls and a letter to BBB nothing. Can I sue them in small claims? bbb said they are out of business but i called and they are not.

Yes you can sue them up to a certain amount. Go to your district court and be sure that you can get jurisdiction over the company. Good luck.

You can sue in small claims. The jurisdictional limit is $5,000. You must commence the action where the moving company is located. To prove damages, you must have either a paid receipt demonstrating repair or replacement, or you must have 2 signed estimates.
