Legal Question in Civil Litigation in New York

personal loan

I live in NYC and loaned a ''friend'' from South Carolina 3,000 dollars in May. He promised to repay the loan within 30 days (this is in writing) and it is now past 60. I've called his home to ask about the re payment in which he sent me an email stating that he will call the authorities and claim harassment against me. What legal grounds or options do i have to receive the re-payment of this loan?

Locksley Wade Law Office of Locksley O. Wade

Re: personal loan

You can sue him in small claims court on failure to pay a contract/promissory note. You can then file the judgment in South Carolina; or you can try selling the judgment to a collection agency. Tell this to your friend and see if he pays.
