Legal Question in Civil Litigation in New York

I signed a contract in NY pre-Covid for a wedding. Due to former, current, and anticipated NYS government restrictions from Covid 19 we have cancelled our wedding. The Venue will not give us a refund. Do we have any legal recourse?

You must have signed an agreement/contract regarding the venue, timing, cancellation, etc. The contract determines the rights and obligations of the parties and the penalties for cancellation and contingencies for excusable rescission.
