Legal Question in Civil Litigation in New York

im being sue buy my wife's goddaughter which lived with us for about 10 years she gave me a car about 3 years ago and now i received a letter from court saying that im being sued for un-returned property but that was a gift so i will like to know what can i do and what type of lawyer i need?

You would need a general contracts lawyer. Mr. Fichman is also correct, you must file an answer to the complaint within a short amount of time. Therefore, you must retain a lawyer as soon as possible.
