Legal Question in Civil Litigation in New York

I want to sue the domestic violence shelter I was staying in???

I was a resident at a privately owned domestic violence shelter in NYC. I had to pay rent or what they termed a shelter contribution. I had secured an apartment for the middle of this month so the administration at the shelter( after having a conference call on the matter)

agreed that my contribution would be pro rated and I would give them a money order on Friday(s) as long as I had to stay. They put a letter in my mailbox spelling out the agreement and even sent me a confirmation email.

That Friday about 5 oclock in the afternoon I recieved a phone call at my desk telling me that they could not live up to the agreement and I would have to leave the shelter by noon THE NEXT DAY. They gave me less than 24 hours notice to find someplace to sleep for myself and my children. I have since corresponded with the CEO of the shelter via email..He said they did not have the correct information when they entered into the agreement with me and that they were still learning about the proper way to run a shelter in nyc..I want to sue them for emotional distress, breech of contract, and anything else possible..Do I have a case?? My children, especially my youngest boy was devestated by the way we were treated at the shelter.

Its an interetsing proposition. It really depends on what if anything, happened to you and your children that was proximately caused by the negligence or breach of contract by the shelter.

I would like to see the agreement. If you wish to contact me with further details, send me an email with more info and then we can arrange an appointment.
