Legal Question in Civil Litigation in New York

There are two tortfeasors (A and B). Their misconducts were related but their motivation were different. I took A to court and had him pay statutory punitive damages. That lawsuit is over. I viewed B less culpable than A but still feel angry at B. Can I bring a new action against B for statutory punitive damages? Is it a double recovery and prohibited? How does law operate in principle? How does judge view this delayed action?
