Legal Question in Civil Litigation in New York

Hello, I work in EMS and while on a call I assisted a paramedic in the back of the ambulance one evening for a patient involved in a motorcycle accident. The paramedic messed up patient care and she attempted to falsify the patient care report 4 days later to "cover her tracks" her attempt was foiled when she didn't realize my squad captain made a copy of the original report and noticed the differences and a "continuation form" that did not exist with the original report. I was asked by my captain to write my own report of what ACTUALLY happened. This employee is being terminated due to her consistently calling off and leaving early(a total 36 times) and because of other inconsistencies in her other reports and for falsifying the PCR. I work with this paramedic in another agency in a town over. Knowing the situation we dealt with at my home squad I decided to inform my partner at the second squad if what happened; not to bring the paramedic down, and not to ruin her other jobs; I only wanted to warn the individuals I work with at the second agency so that they did not lose their EMT cards in turn losing their jobs because the paramedic in question wanted to take shortcuts or document care that didn't happen. The news spread throughout the agency which in turn got back to the paramedic that I was the individual that told everyone. The paramedic is now "suing me for slander" stating that I ruined her reputation in the surrounding agencies. Nothing formal was submitted to me, and I hope she is simply threatening this and that it won't go anywhere. However, I have no knowledge of this type if thing and I could really use some advice or at least piece of mind.. Modes the paramedic have a case? If she does, what are the repercussions I could be facing? Please.. Anyone if you can help me I can't even tell you how much I would appreciate any advice you can give. Thank you for taking the time to read my story.

You have a "qualified privilege" tot make those statements and can have the case dismissed. But you're going to need a lawyer. I have a niche in handling cases efficiently and economically. Feel free to contact me through Lawguru or [email protected].
